Woodland Series
These encaustic paintings originated in the spring of 2020, during the pandemic. A dear artist friend, who makes stunning mosaic mirrors, offered me the leftover pieces of her birch wood frames, believing I could find a creative use for them. My daily walks with my dog in Woodland Park ignited my inspiration. As everything was shut down, the park remained untended, allowing the grass to grow wild and the landscape to flourish freely. The vibrant flowering weeds blossoming in all directions during this period motivated me to create these paintings.
